For the future Forum for Global and Transregional Studies at the University of Göttingen is currently inviting applications for the position of an

Academic Coordinator
- Salary group 13 TV-L, 39,8h/week -

The position is available from April 1st, 2016 until March 31st, 2018.

The upcoming Forum for Global and Transregional Studies is bringing together many existing and upcoming research and teaching activities related to regional and transregional studies within the faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law at the University of Göttingen as well as other institutions. It is providing opportunities for exchange and further development of new research contexts within long-standing, established structures. The Forum is a central component of the university’s strategy to foster transregional and transdisciplinary work, and in that manner to interlink research across different eras and disciplines.

The academic coordinator is responsible for the following tasks:
- The coordination of relevant research activities in various institutions and faculties (most notably the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law),
- Identification and promotion of relevant research programs and funding sources, as well as the preparation and composition of applications for third-party funding,
- including international partners.

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- A PhD in a field compatible with the profile of the Transregional and Global Studies Forum.
- Strong skills in interdisciplinary and intercultural communication – both spoken and written – in German and English,
- Very good team and communication skills
- Very good skills in project management and organization.

In addition, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Experience in strategic research and organizational management through a position at a university or a non-university institution,
- Solid knowledge of the European and German research and higher education systems.
- Experience in grant-writing.
